Quicker commutes are on the horizon now that Montgomery County commissioners have approved a funding agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation for a flyover that will directly connect Interstate 45 to Highway 242.
The $19.1 million roadway will connect northbound traffic on Interstate 45 to the eastbound lanes of Highway 242. It will be the third direct connector between the two roadways.
According to an article by Community Impact, the project is expected to begin the bidding process in early August with construction starting by the end of the year. Once open, the flyover will speed residents home from work, shopping at The Woodlands Mall, dining out at Market Street or other destinations south.
