Conroe ISD Advances Education

July 5, 2023

A good education is the foundation for lifelong success. Young Evergreen™ residents attend schools in the Conroe Independent School District (CISD), a district known for high academic standards, excellence in athletics and high-quality extracurricular activities.

Serving more than 71,000 students across 67 campuses, CISD is the largest school district in Montgomery County. It is the ninth largest district in Texas and the 60th largest in the United States. It is also one of the fastest-growing districts in Texas with current enrollment growth exceeding 3,000 students per year.

This year, Niche gave CISD an A. The well-known ranking and review site awarded the district the top spot on its 2023 list of the Best School Districts in Montgomery County. Niche also ranked it among the top 50 Best School Districts in Texas, top 5 Best School Districts for Athletics in the Houston area and top 10 Best Places to Teach in the Houston Area.

The district’s academic standards are high. Students routinely score above average on state-mandated tests. When it comes to SAT and ACT scores, students beat state and national averages. For the ACT, students averaged 25.4, well above the state average of 20. 1 and the national average of 20. 3. The average SAT score was 1110 compared to the state average of 1003 and the national average of 1060. The district boasts a 97 percent graduation rate.

Our youngest students attend San Jacinto Elementary from Kindergarten through fourth grade. The Suns boasts very involved parents with an active PTO. Students have access to music and art classes. Technology-minded students have the opportunity to join the Robotics Team.

Fifth and sixth grade students attend Grangerland Intermediate. In addition to prepping academically for junior high, the students have opportunities to join the band or orchestra, sing in the choir and develop their artistic skills. There is a strong physical education program, a gifted program and special education services. There’s even a school garden.

Campus life is good for Moorhead Junior High students. Athletic Panthers can participate in football, volleyball, basketball, track, soccer, cross country and tennis. The Moorhead Dazzlers dance team recently took top honors at a state dance competition.

For those with a more artistic bent, there are opportunities to participate in theater, band and choir. Young writers and photographers can follow their passion working on the newspaper or yearbook.

Caney Creek High participates in the district’s Career and Technological Education curriculum that includes 13 career clusters, 29 programs of study and 150 course offerings. Students also have access to dual credit, honors and Advanced Placement (AP) classes. The music program at the high school is strong, with many students going on to continue their musical training at top universities.

We are proud our young residents have the opportunity to grow and thrive at CISD schools.
