5 Fun Things to Do

February 16, 2023

Evergreen is in Conroe, a happening place if ever there was one. Don’t believe us? Here are five fun things you can do.

Play at Margaritaville

Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville Lake Resort is located along the Lake Conroe waterfront, and you don’t have to be a guest to play. For just $19 per person, you can hang out at the 3-acre Jolly Mon water park with its lazy river, splash zone and private beach. Your day pass also gives you access to the heated pools, hot tubs, mini golf course, arcade and sports courts. Parking is complimentary.

Commune with Nature

Nature lovers love Conroe because there are so many places to boat, hike, camp, swim and more. The city is bordered by 22,000-acre Lake Conroe. Boat, swim, ski, fish and more every weekend. Conroe is also home to the Sam Houston National Forest and the W.G. Jones State Forest. Grab your hiking boots and explore the Lone Star Hiking Trail. The 96-mile trail is the longest continuous hiking trail in the state.

Shop ‘til You Drop

Conroe is just a hop, skip and a jump away from The Woodlands, and you know what that means — shopping! Stroll down Market Street and browse more than 90 high-end boutiques. If malls are more your thing, The Woodlands Mall boasts more than 160 shops and restaurants. As long as you’re there, don’t pass up the opportunity to take a swan boat ride on The Woodlands Waterway.

Get a Drink

When it comes to craft beer, wine, liquor and even mead, Conroe is the place to be. Conroe boasts four craft breweries — Southern Star Brewing Co., B-52 Brewing Company, Fass Brewing Co. and Copperhead Brewery. Two wineries — Blue Epiphany and Bernhardt Winery — serve up delicious reds, whites and roses. Bartletts Distillery makes top-shelf whiskies and will even mix up a cocktail for you. If you’ve never tried mead, you’ll want to head over to The Ferm Meadery.

Enjoy Concerts Under the Stars

Some of the top musical acts in the world can be enjoyed at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The venue seats 16,500 people and is considered one of the top amphitheaters in the world. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers has performed there. The Houston Symphony and Houston Ballet tour there. This year’s line-up includes Robert Plant, Dave Mathews Band, Fall Out Boy, Janet Jackson, Shania Twain and more.
