Conroe ISD is a great place to get an education and according to a new ranking, it’s also a great place to work.
Forbes has released its 2024 list of America’s Best Employers By State. Conroe ISD comes in at No. 13 in the state and is the highest ranked among the state’s seven K-12 education systems included on the list. In all, there are 101 Texas companies included in the rankings. There are nearly 1,300 organizations ranked nationally from anonymous employee surveys. Questions included working conditions, compensation packages, potential for development and more. It is the third consecutive year for Conroe ISD to be ranked as one of Texas’ best employers.
Conroe ISD is the largest school district in Montgomery County and the county’s largest employer, with more than 10,000 employees (including substitutes). Encompassing 348 square miles, it is the second-largest district geographically among the top 24 enrollments in Texas. This year, it is estimated the district’s 71 campuses will serve approximately 74,000 students.
Being one of the state’s best employers isn’t the school district’s only accolade. It has also been ranked No. 37 on Forbes 2024 list of America’s Best Large Employers and No. 62 this year on another Forbes list — America’s Best Employers for Women. The district performs well in Niche rankings, as well, being named the Best School District, Most Diverse School District, Best Places to Teach and Best School District for Athletes in Montgomery County in 2023 and 2024.
Evergreen students attend San Jacinto Elementary, Grangerland Intermediate, Moorhead Junior High and Caney Creek High School. Opening next year in the community is Millie J. Campbell Elementary.
