Last November, voters approved the largest-ever Conroe ISD bond referendum, a $1.9 billion package that will bring eight new schools to the district.
One of those schools is set to be built in Evergreen, with a projected opening of August 2025.
The Evergreen school, which will serve students in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade, was given the green light to start design and construction along with one other elementary school in the district. Each will have an anticipated capacity of 950 students. They are the first two projects scheduled to be built from the bond package.
Conroe ISDÂ currently serves more than 73,000 students with more than 9,000 employees across 70 campuses. District leaders project the district to grow to more than 100,000 students within the next nine years.
In addition to the eight new schools, the bond includes expansions and renovations at several existing campuses and $40 million for technology enhancements and the purchase of devices such as iPads, laptops and desktop computers. Another $112.9 million will pay for a third agricultural barn, 16 physical education classrooms and elementary school gyms as well as renovations at the district’s existing barns.
